Beccy is one of our most accomplished country music recording artists, an excellent songwriter and sell-out stage performer wherever she goes. She holds the audience in her hands and tells the most entertaining yarns and stories, you will laugh with Beccy throughout her performance. She has played for our Australian troops and is one of our great allround entertainers.
This is her videoclip "Hello Happiness" filmed live at the 2012 Gympie Muster.
That's how rural author Mandy Magro describes her life at the moment. She's never one to stand still, she is always off to complete one project or another. Following the recent release of her second novel 'Jacaranda', she's putting the finishing touches to her third 'Flame Tree Hill', which is all set to hit the shelves in May 2013, and also working on her fourth - 'Driftwood'. Combine all this with being a wife to Drew, a mother to Chloe Rose and looking after the family home in the picturesque country town of Mossman in far North Queensland, you can see how she comes up with the fly analogy.
Mandy has always been a country girl at heart, she just loves everything country, from the taste of the wilderness of the Aussie outback, to the dust, the unrelenting heat, the sounds of the animals, the rodeo and most of all, she just adores country music, well Australian country music to be precise. She likes nothing better after a hard day tending to the usual chores than to put her feet up and listen to artists such as Steve Eales, who is featured in her first in a series of new blogs covering local country artists . In fact you could say that Mandy loves the outback and the country way of life so much that she's the epitome of a country girl!
Mandy started writing her first book, 'Rosalee Station' as a way to live out the country life in her imagination. Finding herself stuck at home, she started to write drawing from her own experiences, combined with a little fantasy of course, and says that her inspiration comes from the ever changing nature of the land and her obsession with the outback. Ever keen to put labels on writing, this genre of writing has been dubbed outback fiction or ruralit, but one thing is for sure, readers love it and it's most definitely here to stay!
We have some great shows coming up at the Pascoe Vale RSL for the Country Music Guild.
