'ITS ON' THE WOLFE BROTHERS AUSTRALIAN DATES - JOINING LEE KERNAGHAN FOR THE 2013 BEAUTIFUL NOISE AUSTRALIAN TOUR

“Liverpool gave us the Beatles, now Tasmania has given us The Wolfe Brothers. The boys took country to a whole new level on Australia's Got Talent and I'm looking forward to touring with the hottest band in the land on the 2013 Beautiful Noise national tour.”Lee Kernaghan.

Tasmania’s favourite sons The Wolfe Brothers are hitting the road for 2013, travelling around the country as special guests on Lee Kernaghan’s Beautiful Noise Australian tour. The band burst into the spotlight after appearing on Australia’s Got Talent and showing audiences that country music can really rock, and rock hard!

The band’s debut album Its On is already making its mark on the local music scene. The album debuted at #18 on the ARIA mainstream chart and #2 on the ARIA country chart. It’s On comprises of 11 new songs written by The Wolfe Brothers. The set list will be augmented by songs from the band’s 2010 self-titled EP, and a few well-chosen covers – such as their version of the Big & Rich song Save A Horse (Ride A Cowboy), which catapulted them into the national spotlight on Australia’s Got Talent.

The Wolfe Brothers are made up of lead singer, guitarist and the group’s main song writer Nick Wolfe, his bassist-vocalist brother Tom, together with childhood friends and best mates, drummer Casey Kostiuk and guitarist Brodie Rainbird. After doing well in Australia’s Got Talent, the band went on to sign a management contract and a recording contract with ABC/Universal – and then announced their first ever full Tasmanian head-lining tour and a massive headlining show at the 2013 Tamworth Country Music Festival. The band was also been announced in the first line-up for the 2013 CMC Rocks The Hunter festival.

If that isn’t impressive enough, the band also came to the notice of one of their musical heroes – Lee Kernaghan. As a result, The Wolfe Brothers were invited to back Lee during recording sessions for his new album, and will now join him on-tour as his support act and the core of his travelling band. It’s a stunning result for a hard-working band which, not so long ago, was all but unknown outside the southern Tassie pub circuit.

For Tom and Nick Wolfe, playing music is not so much a choice as a tradition. The pair represents the fourth generation of Wolfes to grow up on the family farm in Tasmania, and the third to play in a band. “Our grandfather formed the Wolfe Family Orchestra – which included our grandmother, and our dad, who joined when he was 12 years old,” explains Tom. “Then my dad had his own band, called Midnight Revival – and my brother Nick joined that when he was about 13. Music has always been part of my memories. I just fell in love with it as a child – we all just love it, the whole family. I remember Nick and I would be working on the farm after school and then we’d get in the car with dad and go to the sound-check. We’d help with the sound-check and then, if we’d been good, we could play on stage for five minutes afterwards.”

The Wolfe Brothers album Its On is out now through ABC/Universal.

ADAM TOMS IS A ‘RICH MAN’

The title of Adam Toms’ new single and forthcoming album has little to do with monetary value and plenty to do with personal riches. When Toms sings about ‘being rich without the money’, he can definitely relate.

The Benalla-based artist cites his family – wife Jo, two boys Mitchel & Riley and being able to play music for a living as things money just can’t buy.

‘Rich Man’ was co-written by Drew McAlister and Tamara Stewart with backing vocals by Chris E Thomas and is the first time Toms has released a track from others’ pens. Single number two, from his sophomore album which will be available in early March was produced by the award-winning, Matt Fell.

The album will come packaged with a real-life documentary, ‘Are We There Yet – On The Road With Adam Toms’ DVD which tracks the highs and lows of nine months on the road with his wife and two young boys. The DVD also includes Toms’ six film clips to date.

‘Shine On Me’ which also features on the new album, has recently been released as a digital download with all profits going to ‘Aussie Helpers’ to assist Australians effected by the recent fires & floods. If you’d like to help out, download the track here: https://itunes.apple.com/au/album/shine-on-me-single/id597817638

PAUL COSTA RELEASES 2ND SINGLE FROM TOP CHARTING ALBUM WHEELS & STEEL

SINGLE – BIG END OF TOWN .

In a year when Australia is set for a federal election, Paul Costa’s new single, Big End Of Town, seems highly appropriate and timely. The song, co-written by fellow Australian country star Tamara Stewart is about asking questions – and standing up to society’s bullies.

“The idea for this song came about when I saw a television commercial for the last NSW state election,” says Paul. “I can’t remember which side of the political fence it was aimed at, but a woman on the commercial asked, ‘are you working for the people or the big end of town?’. Then it just hit me! This song could mean different things to different people, but I think it’s healthy for everyone to not only ask questions but demand answers and hold the big end of town accountable.”

Big End Of Town is the second single from Paul Costa’s chart topping fourth album, Wheels & Steel. The first single, Tractors & Bikes, co-written with Tamara and Drew McAlister, rocketed to the top of the Country Music Radio Top 30, propelled by Paul’s trademark strong hooks and electric guitar grunt. Big End Of Town also pushes the up-tempo envelope. The song is driving and instantly memorable – a song with very strong country and cross-over appeal.

For Paul, one of the most attractive elements of the song is that it was the result of a collaboration with Tamara Stewart. “I went into the writing session with just the title,” he explains. “I knew where I’d got the idea from, and roughly what I wanted to say. From there Tamara and I talked for a few hours – discussing different options and possible directions. In the end it took only about half an hour to write the lyrics.”

Paul is first and foremost a consummate singer-songwriter, justly renowned for his ability to thrill live audiences. He is also, however, a man who recognises that talent brings with it responsibilities – and a commitment to doing the right thing. One of the songs on Wheels & Steel, Shine, has become an unofficial anthem for Mission Australia – an achievement of which Paul is immensely proud. Big End Of Town inspires a similar reaction.

“Great songs touch people in different ways - from rallying support for social issues, changing moods, helping to relay feelings and the ability to take your mind back to a time, place or event,” he says. “We’ve had a great response and excellent feedback for live performance and radio play for this song. People say they like the hooky chorus and the message. People tell us that it’s a great song that gets you thinking.”

Paul is immensely proud of the way Wheels & Steel and its subsequent single has been received by the music-loving public. The album debuted at #2 in the ARIA Country Album chart and has been receiving rave reviews. Big End of Town is a perfect representation of what the album is all about. In the six months since its release last year, Paul says he has been overwhelmed by the feedback he’s received.

“I’d like to thank everyone from DJs, fellow musicians and music lovers for the amazing response for the Wheels & Steel album,” he says. “We’ve had the most passionate feedback for the songs and the stories with lots of people saying ‘this is really you’.”

The release of Big End of Town signals the start of a busy year for Paul Costa. Following on from a successful Tamworth Country Music Festival where Paul performed to a packed house at the Capitol Theatre for the second year in a row, the single helps kick off a hectic touring schedule and ongoing volunteer work with Mission Australia. With four albums under his belt, Paul has cemented his position in the Australian country music and he couldn’t be happier.
