The performers are locked in, the cattle have been notified that they’ll have to move on for a few days and the stage is set for a magnificent country music festival that will break new ground on the North Coast of NSW.

A tiny community north-east of Grafton will come alive in the first three days of November for the first Clarence Valley Music Muster – an event that’s capturing the interest of locals and country music fans across the nation.

Co-organiser Wendy Gordon – who will host the muster on her property at the history-rich settlement of Calliope – says it has been a long and rutted road towards the birth of the festival, but now it’s singing.

“We’ve done the hard yards, but with the support of neighbours, other locals, the media and Clarence Valley Council, the muster is about to burst onto the country music stage and become an annual event for this wonderful part of the Clarence Valley,” Wendy says.

Wendy Gordon is no wannabe in country music circles. Before moving to Calliope a few years ago, she played a major role in past Tamworth country music events, became a marketing guru in the industry and along the way managed stars like Tania Kernaghan and Adam Harvey.

Heading the bill at the first Clarence Valley Country Muster are Ted Egan OA. – who will make the trek from Alice Springs to Calliope – and Terry Gordon OAM. Terry has been a balladeer, songwriter, comedian and TV host for more than 50 years. Last year he was inducted into the Entertainers Roll of Renown – the highest honour in Australian country music.

Also on stage are Glenn Jones, Lindsay Waddington, Alisha Smith and Keith Jamieson, the Kross Kut Showband, Marge Graham, acclaimed bush poet Ray Essery, Ged and Trudy Hintz, Tony Wagner, Jamie Davis, Sandy Thorne, Suburban Country and Darrel Craft.
