On September 19th 2013, we commemorate the 10th anniversary since the passing of Slim Dusty. Remembered as Australia’s King of Country, Slim Dusty left behind a huge legacy that continues to grow even as we move well into the 21st Century. To mark the occasion, EMI Music Australia is proud to announce the release of two very special Slim Dusty commemorative packages.

The first of the new releases is a Commemorative Edition CD & DVD pack of The Very Best of Slim Dusty. This special limited edition Digi-Pack will contain both the audio CD and video DVD of Slim’s most famous tracks. These two hugely successful Slim releases have never before been packaged together and will only be available for a very limited time.

EMI Australia is also proud to be releasing an exciting and totally unique new Slim Dusty album. Titled The Son of Noisy Dan, the 23 track album contains a fantastic collection of autobiographical songs written by and sung by Slim.

“My dad, David Kirkpatrick, had a loud voice, an Irish temper and an awe–inspiring command of swear words, which was always delivered at top volume. I was told he was the life of the party especially when he was away from Mary (my Mum). He would play his fiddle, sing his parody songs and was known to recite Henry Lawson and Banjo Paterson poems out loud. It was no wonder he was known around town as Noisy Dan” Slim Dusty (circa. 1996)

This special collection of songs depict the various stages of his life from his childhood, through to his relentless days touring the remote parts of Australia. Of special note, there are three audio tracks titled “Slim Remembers”, which feature Slim reminiscing about his life providing a great insight to the songs he sang, and the people and places he sang about. The album represents a huge legacy for Slim’s legion of devoted fans ...and also for documenting Australia’s unique culture in the 20th Century.

Both The Very Best Of Slim Dusty CD/DVD and The Son of Noisy Dan will be released on August 16th 2013, leading into a couple of events celebrating Slim’s legacy:

August 16th: The Very Best Of Slim CD & DVD commemorative pack and The Son of Noisy Dan album releases.

August 22nd-25th: 2013 Gympie Music Muster will commemorate the 10th anniversary with a music industry Slim Dusty Tribute Concert on main stage (Sunday 25th) to conclude the festival.

September 19th: The 10th anniversary date of Slim Dusty’s passing.

Australian country radio, TV and press continue to embrace Slim Dusty and will be joining the commemoration and celebration of Slim’s legacy over the next few months.

I never want to be too old for travelling….The only time I get tired is when I’m not travelling. I’ve spent my life meeting people, seeing new places, or going back to old places. And I’d like to continue travelling even when I’m not doing shows.” ....Slim Dusty.
