Grammy Award-winning country singer Randy Travis has been admitted to a Texas hospital, where he is listed in critical condition. While some details of his condition remain unclear, a press release states that Travis has suffered "complications of recently acquired viral cardiomyopathy." Viral cardiomyopathy is a heart disease caused by a virus.
Back in February, the singer pleaded guilty to a Driving While Intoxicated charge, stemming from a 2012 incident in which Travis crashed his car and was found naked on a Texas highway. But, as Rolling Stone reported last year, he'd recently been focused on his sobriety and improving his health. His last studio album, the gospel-focused Blessed Assurance, came out in 2011; "I Told You So" (his 2010 duet with singer Carrie Underwood) received a Grammy for Best Country Collaboration with Vocals.
