TRUCK STOP HONEY An up-beat and exhilarating rollercoaster ride about love and life on the road and a testament to the most intriguing of Gods eations...women! This song was inspired by actual events and is best described by Ben in his own words... “I was driving along the Hume Highway between Canberra and Sydney on the way home from a gig when I pulled into the service stop at Marulan next to Truckstop 31. I love watching life in action, something I must have picked up overseas. It’s a very European thing to sit back, sip on a coffee and watch the people going about their lives oblivious to their surroundings. The otherwise dull trip up the Hume was made all the more interesting courtesy of a burly truck driver, clearly smitten by the service attendant, attempt his best ‘peacock’ display....It made me think (and we’ve all been there) how the fairer sex can turn us mere men into love struck Casanovas.”
And so the inspirational seed was sown. This song was first performed live at the CMAA Academy Of Country Music Senior Graduation Concert, under the mentorship of Felicity Urquhart, with a resounding applause and a clear indication of the appeal of this first single from the album.
Produced by Matt Fell and featuring the incredible talents of Glen Hannah and Josh Schuberth, the track has a great rhythm with crunching guitars and a classic feel that doesn’t fail to get you tapping your foot, nodding your head and singing out the hook ’...my little truck stop honey...’
