The Horsham Country Music Association was formed in 2006 with the first monthly gig held in 2007 and the inaugural Horsham Country Music Festival held in April 2008.; The first two festivals were of three days duration before moving to a four day festival from 2010.
In addition to conducting an annual festival we hold monthly gigs at the Horsham RSL. We have a Dinner & Show on Thursday night at 6.30pm which costs $30 including a two course dinner followed by Morning Melodies on Friday morning at 9.30am which costs $12 including morning tea. On 31st January 2016 Horsham Country Music Association held A Pleasant Sunday Afternoon in the New Horsham Town Hall with Kiara Rodrigues and Trevor Keilar performing to a capacity crowd of 500. The afternoon raised $17,500 for the Wimmera Cancer Centre Project.
The 11th Horsham Country Music Festival will be held from 22nd to 25th March 2018 with another excellent artist line up.; New faces in 2018; will Norm Price from Yarrawonga, John O’Dea from Orroroo in SA, Robyn Gleeson from Warrnambool, and youngsters Lachie & Georgia McGennisken from Traralgan.; Laura Downing, Dwayne Elix, Don Costa and Trevor Keilar will be returning after a spell of several years; Joy Adams from New Zealand and Justin Standley are both returning for their second festival after excellent debuts in 2017; The popular and talented Kiara Rodrigues is returning for her third consecutive festival.
A feature of the Horsham Country Music Festival is that non-professional “budding” country music artists have the opportunity to showcase their skills. There will be four opportunities for the non-professionals to perform in 2018;
- Thursday 22nd March at the Horsham Riverside Caravan Park — Walk Ups from 4:00pm to 5:30pm; No registration.
- Friday 23rd March in Roberts Ave — Local Artists from 10:00am to 4:oopm (by invitation).
- Saturday 24th March in the Horsham Plaza — Horsham Plaza Busking Competition from 9:00am to 11:30am. Registrations required – Contact Lyall Wheaton.
- Sunday 25th March — Walk Up Country & Poets from 9:00am to 10:15am at Wimmera Lakes Caravan Park, Stawell Road. No registrations.
