For years, Greg Austen [The Breaker] travelled throughout eastern Australia, entertaining at rodeos, pubs, clubs, and festivals, with his great mix of country and country rock music. His repertoire including both original material and a wide selection of country favourites, which, combined with his easy listening country voice, drew a strong following from all generations.
Growing up in the Blue Mountains, Greg left home and had a great time working on stations from Wilcannia to Adelaide River, ringing, fencing and breaking in horses. The Breaker loved to entertain. He took up playing the guitar and singing country songs, which was always popular at the pub or around the campfires. Greg finally happened upon Clermont and his future wife. Here Greg bought a cattle property and was able to combine his two greatest loves, the bush and his music.
Greg has released several successful albums, the most famous being “Fresh Air Don’t Pay the Bills”. Co- written with his mate, Phil Hodgkinson, “Fresh Air “won many awards both here and overseas, and is a regularly requested when The Breaker performs.
