Stars' is the sparkling new single from Tracy McNeil & The GoodLife – the first from their upcoming full length album, 'You Be The Lightning' scheduled for release in 2019.
Picking up at full speed from where they left off with 'Thieves', their 2016 award-winning release, this new material continues to draw from classic rock, pop and alt country influences, whilst simultaneously broadening their sonic palette to produce a shimmering style of Indie Americana.
In May, the band set up shop in Melbourne’s Aviary Recording Studio with engineers Fraser Montgomery and Nick Edin to begin work on the album. Produced by Dan Parsons and Tracy McNeil, 'Stars' became a flagship for the shinier, more contemporary pop sound the band were striving for, whilst still retaining the emotional depth and intelligence fans of McNeil’s music have come to love.
After recording lead vocals with engineer Jake Rush at Madeline Studio, Stars was then sent across the Pacific to ‘The Duck’ in East Nashville, where it was mixed by Jordan Lehning (Rodney Crowell, Caitlin Rose, Jordie Lane, Robert Ellis, Henry Wagons and Willie Nelson), who added his own brand of cosmic stardust.
