Mountaingrass is the official festival of the Australian Bluegrass and Old Time Music Association of Australia (ABOTMA) held annually in November. In 2018 the festival will move from Harrietville, Victoria, and be held for the first time at the George Kerferd Hotel, in the Mayday Hills complex at Beechworth, Victoria, running from November 9-11, 2018. Mountaingrass is a specialist event focusing on two forms of Americana music: bluegrass and Appalachian Old-Time music. The festival presents performances of bluegrass and traditional (American) old-time music from acts from the United States, New Zealand, most states in Australia, and in some years other countries including Japan. It also features both bluegrass and old time music slow jams, a fully acoustic concert, a blackboard gospel concert on Sunday morning, an instrument makers display (and sales), and lots of opportunities for all attendees, to share with each other through jamming and picking sessions. Mountaingrass is organised by the Australasian Bluegrass and Old Time Music Association (ABOTMA), a not-for-profit organisation dedicated to the promotion of bluegrass and American old-time music in Australia.
