Country songstress Beccy Cole has delighted Australian listeners and concert goers for more than twenty five years! The Adelaide-born star’s glowing warmth, honeyed voice, bawdy sense of humour and perpetual smile have helped make Beccy one of the nation’s best-loved and most celebrated artists. With ten Golden Guitars (Country Music Awards Of Australia) to her name (including four for Female Artist of the Year), as well as multiple ARIA Top 10 Country and Top 40 Mainstream albums, a Top 10 DVD, three gold-certified releases, and more than a dozen No.1 Australian country singles, Beccy Cole is one of Australia’s most successful singer-songwriters. She is also a most sort after live performer, having a reputation for bringing an audience to fever pitch and quite often, stomach clutching laughter! Among the most important experiences of Beccy’s career are her tours of military bases in Iraq and the Middle East, the first one being in December 2005, where Beccy performed for Australian service personnel as part of the Tour de Force program. In early 2006, in response to a letter penned by an erstwhile fan critical of what he perceived as Beccy’s tacit support for the war in Iraq, Beccy penned one of her best loved tunes, the triple Golden Guitar-winning ‘Poster Girl’. The song earned Beccy admiration across the globe and remains Beccy’s most requested song. Most recently, Beccy crossed the globe to sing ‘Poster Girl’ at the 75th anniversary of the battle of The Coral Sea in New York. Several returned veterans were in attendance as well as USA President, Donald Trump and Australian Prime Minister, Malcolm Turnbull. Although Beccy maintains that she was performing for the troops, not the politicians; ‘They were there and welcome to listen but my performance was for the veterans, not the leaders.” Beccy’s auto-biography, Poster Girl, was released in 2015 to rave reviews. This honest and funny account of Beccy’s life to date is full of secrets and surprises. Beccy certainly allows the reader into her world and holds nothing back in terms of reporting her own history. Openly discussed in Beccy’s book is her very public ‘coming out’ in 2012. After years of keeping her sexuality hidden from the public, Beccy proudly announced that she is gay on ABC’s ‘Australian Story.’ In May, 2017, Beccy released her 11th studio album, ‘Great Country Songbook Volume 2’ with good friend, Adam Harvey. The album contains some of the most famous Country duets of all time, delivered with a touch of humour as only Beccy and Adam can. For much of 2017, Beccy and Adam have performed to sold out theatres across the country. Beccy remains passionate about providing a safe environment for the LGBTI community, especially in regional Australia. Beccy's new 2018 album, ‘Lioness’ is due for release on the ABC Music label in late August and features brand new songs written by Beccy herself. The unique album is an Australian first; all musicians are women, the album has also been produced, engineered and mixed by women. Beccy is extremely proud of her band ‘The Sisters Of Twang’ and has been a long-time supporter of women in music, especially those starting out and needing a hand. Beccy Cole is the real deal, a working mother, a comedienne, an author, a flag waving lesbian, a passionate supporter of Aussie rules Football and as honest, funny and genuine in real life as she comes across on stage. Her ability to laugh at herself and write her songs and stories with such brazen truth is refreshing. Her live show has an indelible impression.
