Local Melbourne ‘Southern’ Roots music specialist Craig Woodward returns to Northcote’s Open Studio on Sunday April 29th to perform with two of his most celebrated line-ups in a night of Appalachian ‘Old Time Stringband’ and traditional Cajun/Creole dance music.
Flying Engine Stringband will perform a feature opening and closing set of hypnotic groove driven southern Appalachian style dance tunes in their traditional five-piece ‘stringband’ line-up of Fiddle’s, 5-string Banjo, Guitar, Banjolin & Double Bass
Open Studio regulars the ‘Johnny Can’t Dance’ Cajun Trio are one of Australia’s leading Cajun/Creole music acoustic ensembles and are dedicated practitioners of the tradition dance and social music of Rural Southwest Louisiana. Johnny Can’t Dance will perform a special mid show set featuring Cajun French vocal, Cajun accordion, fiddle’s, guitar & percussion.
