HIGH COUNTRY MUSIC
Mountaingrass at Harrietville, November 18-20
For 28 years, Harrietville in the foothills of the Victorian alps has echoed to the high-lonesome sound of bluegrass and old-time music. If you like country, you’ll be stunned at the power of all-acoustic bluegrass. Its songs tell the same stories of love lost and won, faith and despair and life beyond the cities.
Mountaingrass is sweet songs, turbo-charged bluegrass and jamming into the night.
MountainGrass owns Harrietville for three days of concerts, workshops and music in every venue in town. The big marquees and little halls hum, the pubs serve great food, stay open late and put on shows.
This November you can catch Trey Hensley, Rob Ickes and Mike Compton from the USA, with 46 albums and a load of Grammys between them. There’ll be 20 bands from around Australia, the US and New Zealand.
Think campfires, comfy lodges, country pubs and the song of the Ovens River flowing through the little town. Think walks and cycle trails on mountain paths. Take the kids no-charge for under 18’s. Please, please book online now. Mountaingrass is an intimate affair and sells out every year. Harrietville’s accommodation, including the caravan park, fills up quick.
