Jasmine Rae Releases New Single & Music Video ‘Eggs In A Basket’
Three time ARIA nominee Jasmine Rae has today officially released the latest single, ‘Eggs In A Basket,’ – the third single from her latest album, Heartbeat through ABC Music / Universal Music Australia. This quirky and incredibly unique track from the two-time CMC Music Award winner was written by Jasmine and fellow Melbournian songwriter Clive Young. The track received international recognition earlier this year when it was named as a finalist in the International Songwriting Competition.
“Eggs in a basket, ducks in A row. Headed for the big time don’t you know…. these were some lyrics that my co-writer Clive thought of and almost didn’t show me when we were throwing ideas around in a session. We laughed at the sillyness of the idea, and I felt an overwhelming urge to just dive into it and write what is the most ‘random’ song I’ve ever recorded,” says Jasmine Rae.
“So we wrote a story about a little boy who started his own backyard business selling eggs to his neighbours, in an attempt to woo the little girl who lived at the top of the street. I love the driving force of the Mandolin throughout the whole track and the back porch vibe it creates.”
Also for the first time, not only does Jasmine Rae star in the song’s new music video, but she also directed it. The video, features ARIA, APRA and Golden Guitar winner Mike Carr.
Along with this new single release, Jasmine Rae has just been announced as one of the main attractions at the upcoming Farm Draft 2016 Community Challenge & Country Music Festival, a one-day event to celebrate the work of our farming community in Wagga Wagga on October 22. She’ll then join a bunch of Australia’s biggest stars for Crusin’ Country #6 in November.

THE WOLFE BROTHERS FIRST SHOW UPON RETURNING FROM NASHVILLE
Country rockers The Wolfe Brothers have announced their first Australian show date after they return from their writing trip to Nashville. The band will be heading overseas in November but have today confirmed that their highly anticipated 2016 Tamworth Country Music Festival [TCMF] show will be at Blazes Auditorium in Wests Leagues Club on Wednesday 20th January 2016.
After a packed house at their 2015 TCMF show, The Wolfe Brothers are looking forward to rockin’ the festival and sharing some of the new material that will feature on their third album due for release next April. “We will be coming home with some new songs that we can’t wait to share with everyone who comes along to our show in Tamworth,” says Nick Wolfe. “One thing is for sure, we want this show in Tamworth to be a celebration of the last few years on the road touring around Australia so along with the new songs we will also be playing all our favourites from our first two albums It’s On and Nothin’ But Trouble.”
LACHLAN BRYAN & THE WILDES | THE MOUNTAIN
Local folk-meets-alt-country troubadour Lachlan Bryan and his band The Wildes have released their new album ‘THE MOUNTAIN’ out through ABC Music/Universal.
Lead single ‘AFRAID OF THE LIGHT’ is a heart-wrenching track co-written with the acclaimed Kim Richey, who also lends her tender backings vocals to the lines ‘You know that I need you, through the darkness I will lead you. But I’ve always been afraid of the light…’It’s an emotionally-charged opener that sets the tone for Bryan’s most personal set of songs yet, crafted in the studio with The Wildes (Mat Duniam, Shaun Ryan) and, for the first time, Damian Cafarella.
Bryan says of the song, “I started writing Afraid Of The Light in a hotel room in Adelaide, and finished it in Kim Richey’s cabin in Tennessee. I think it’s a hopeful song – but there’s certainly an element of sadness. In the past I think people have perceived me as dwelling in the dark -but as is always the case, there is darkness and light all around – most of us dwell somewhere in the middle”.
Lachlan talks about the new record:
“I’ve grown a mountain-climber’s beard to release this record, and I think I need it. In short, there’s blood in these songs - blood between the lines; blood in the back-story. Calling this album 'The Mountain' makes sense – it’s a journey, but when it’s done you still have to get back down – or find another peak to climb. I genuinely hope that people find it as fulfilling a journey to listen to as it was to write and play and sing.”
