Tuesday Tribute is one of our most popular nights at The Poet – we pair a local musician with a classic songbook – bringing you songs you love, played by people we love.

This edition, Tracey Hogue plays the songs of Patsy Cline.

Girl Friday (Tracey Hogue) was brought up on Billie, Ella, Fred and Ginger with a dash of Riot Grrrl. Armed with a mellow voice and electric uke, in 2013 she gave herself a challenge: to learn, record and perform songs that are no longer under copyright. Thus, The Girl Friday Public Domain Project was born. These hidden gems include blues, jazz and, the delightfully titled, parlour songs.

She has since crafted her own songs that strive to soothe, express the deep stirrings of the heart, and essentially be honest. Girl Friday’s songs, both old and new evoke a sense of nostalgia, innocence and the realisation that people have felt and sung about the same things forever and a day.

Music kicks off at 8pm.
