The Willie Wagtails are an ocker jazz band who seek to make connections with Australian history, landscape and politics in their songwriting. Their energetic, discordant folk-jazz smells distinctly like the bush, and they are sure to captivate you with stories of solar panels, creek-side rendezvous and Geoffrey Rush. Good for a raucous dance, their foot stomping rhythm is better than a poke in the eye with a burnt stick!

A bunch of old mates from way-back, the Wagtails have recently played some of their favourite festivals including the Port Fairy Folk Festival, the Wangaratta Jazz Festival and the Tablelands Folk Festival in Cairns. They are rearing to flap their little wings all over the country on the back of their recently released debut album Bushrangers Need Bush.

"Full of fast-paced and infectiously catchy originals, and with a few fabulously re-worked covers in the mix, the Willie Wagtails tore up the stage, taking us through the New Year and beyond in a frenzy of the arms-and-legs flailing kind of fun that is all too rare these days. They will not disappoint!"
Peter Callender, Artistic Director, It's A Nice Place Festival
