Independently songwriters of a high order, Megan Cooper and Gretta Ziller are teaming up for a night of americana based singer-songwriter music. $15 presale, $20 at the door Dinner from 6pm Bookings essential -- Megan Cooper’s music: it’s high country, folksy, vintage Americana, sometimes bluesy, rootsy, smiley, heartbroken… the sonic equivalent of a polite cup of tea with a sneaky shot of something a little stronger. With addictive melodies and extraordinary tales of common hearts, Cooper’s been earning praise since the release of her critically acclaimed debut album, Ghosts, Choirs & Kings in 2014 and now she’s got a whole lot of new songs burning a hole in her pocket with a brand new album Wild Mountain due for release in July 2018. For someone who sings the sad songs, she sure has a good time doing it. Her live shows are full of energy, sweet harmony and dry observation of the everyday. A natural performer, Cooper layers her shows with earthiness, energy and outstanding songwriting. She has an inbuilt affinity with everything that is good in twang, delivering a deliciously elegant serving of aural sweetness that is rooted in the traditions of Americana and Australian Folk. -- First impressions aren’t always right. If you’ve been foolish enough to nail down the sound of acclaimed songwriter Gretta Ziller, then prepare to have the rug pulled out from under you. Queen of Boomtown, her stunning debut record, defies categorisation and demands repeated listens. Ziller’s sound may bear the hallmarks of classic Americana music but its essence is far more diverse. The Melbourne songstress’ roots span jazz, blues, rock, pop and classical, that eclectic musical upbringing is reflected in the varied tracks of this full-length album. Since it’s release in September Queen of Boomtown has garnered recognition with industry & fans alike, not only was Queen of Boomtown long-listed for the Australian Music Prize but she was also invited to perform at the Melbourne launch along side Jen Cloher & Birdz. The album received rave reviews from press, including Rhythms Magazine and a 4 star review from Rolling Stone Magazine. ‘Slaughterhouse Blues’ the first single from her album was also given an Honourable mention in the 2017 Unsigned Only and International Songwriting Competitions. Gretta is currently being mentored by Tom Busby (Busby Marou) as part of the 2018 APRA inaugural female songwriters mentorship program. -- 'Hauntingly beautiful, the emotion in their music pours from the very core of their souls. Singing as one, the harmonies of Chris Nomad and Emma Edwards drift in and drift out bringing their spine tingling melodies back to light; combined with Pete Belair’s chilling Gretsch tones and striking riffs, Embers, will take you to another place. Enriched with a hint of country, soul and blues sit back and be transported with this Americana band, Embers.'
