    G’day How’s it going? Happy new year It’s already February can you believe it??? We hope you had a great Christmas and a good start to 2012.

    We’ve had a great start to the year. Finally after all this time we made it to Tamworth and we had a bloody ball. By comparison to other artists, our time there was short and we did a whirlwind visit but we still managed to gig and take in the sites and sounds of the festival. You wouldn’t read about it though.. It rained when we got there. This has been happening to us now for years. Just about every Rain Dance we used to do during the drought was followed by rain, the last four gigs at our regular Melbourne gigs bucketed down. But that didn’t dampen anyone’s spirits.
    We stopped at Wagga on the way up and played at the Duke of Kent Hotel and had a great time there. We were treated to a bloody great steak dinner too. Awesome stuff.. The next morning we drove from Wagga straight up to Tamworth where we met up ...

    Tamworth Songwriters' Association 2012 Awards


    The Songwriters’ Salute Awards of Australia comprises the following categories:
    - Traditional Bush Ballad
    - Country Ballad
    - Contemporary/Modern Country Song
    - Comedy/Novelty Song
    - Children’s Song
    - Gospel Song, and
    - Country Song of the Year (best song of the above categories).

    The New Songwriter Award carries a prize of $1000. Entries are open for material released by an Australasian Country Music artist between 16-10-2010 & 15-10-2011 to any person who has had their first commercial release after 1 January 2006.

    The National Country Songwriting Contest closes 30th September, 2011. Trophies and prize money will be on offer for the following categories:
    - Amateur Contemporary/Modern
    - Amateur Traditional
    - Professional Contemporary/Modern
    - Professional Traditional

  5. Not So dusty 2 Album

    Special Not So Dusty II winners announced

    The young duo Brade and Merv Webster have been announced as the winners of the competition looking for a "fan" track to go on to the upcoming Slim Dusty tribute album Not So Dusty II.


    Brade (Breanna Gerritsen and Jade Mellor) won with their version of the Slim classic When The Rain Tumbles Down In July while Merv won with his song I Never Cried For Elvis But I Shed A Tear For Slim.

    A spokesman for Slim's label Nulla Records said they were "totally overwhelmed" with response to the competition both in quantity and quality.
    "It was a diverse mix of covers of Slim's classics and song tributes to Slim which fans had written and recorded over the years since Slim's passing in 2003," he said.
