This year marks four decades of industry success for one of Australia's most loved and possibly truest, bluest country music artists.


John Williamson, who grew up in the country town of Quambatook in the Mallee region of northwest Victoria, was playing the ukelele at 7 and made his first public musical appearance on television talent quest program 'New Faces' in 1970, aged 25.

Since those early days he has won 24 Golden Guitar awards and three ARIA awards, and watched his albums go Platinum and Gold, selling in excess of four million copies.
